Itinerary

Day 1: Scottsdale
Experience the spectacular beauty of the American Southwest – and the art it has inspired! Travel through the expansive desert to Scottsdale, Arizona. Check in to your hotel and join your group for an exploration of the local galleries in the weekly Art Walk. You’ll have a welcome dinner downtown. (D)
Day 2: Sedona
Today, it’s on to Red Rock Country. You’ll have plenty of time to browse, shop, and lunch at the famous Tlaquepaque Arts & Craft Village this afternoon. Check into your hotel and freshen up before heading downtown for time on your own to browse the galleries and have dinner in one of the many local hotspots. (B)
Day 3: Navajo Nation
Native American culture suffuses the Southwest with its richness. After breakfast, drive to Window Rock to learn about the history of Navajo Nation. Then, stop at the Navajo Arts & Crafts Center, where local artisans continue the tribe’s handcraft heritage to this day. Tonight, join the group for dinner to compare your favorite pieces of art so far! (B, D)
Day 4: Santa Fe
After breakfast, travel along the road through the desert to Santa Fe. You’ll have time for lunch and shopping at Canyon Road, a wonderful cluster of galleries with painting, sculpture, fine art, restaurants and more. This afternoon, explore the iconic works of Santa Fe’s most famous artist, Georgia O’Keefe. Her famous flower paintings have become synonymous with Southwest art. (B)
Day 5: Las Cruces
The journey continues in charming Las Cruces, a typical Southwestern desert town. Your first stop here will be Old Mesilla Village, a picturesque Old Town seemingly untouched by time. Explore the quirky galleries and stores, or simply sit under the sun at one of the cantinas. Check into your hotel to freshen up, and then explore the wonderful Las Cruces Museum of Art. Tonight, you’ll have time alone to explore downtown. (B)
Day 6: Tucson
Breakfast at your hotel before heading back West to Tucson. You’ll explore the differences between regional artists at the Tucson Desert Art Museum. Then, visit the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum to see how the desert landscape inspired artists. Tonight, enjoy dinner and conversation as you bid the group farewell. (B, D)
Day 7: Home
It’s homeward bound, but not without one more stop for souvenirs! You’ll spend lunch and shopping time at the quirky desert town of Quartzsite, a treasure trove of gems and crystals suggesting maybe Mother Nature is the Southwest’s most accomplished artist!
