Day 1: Madera
Combine ancient redwoods with picture-book coastlines for an unforgettable California journey. Overnight in Madera, with a Welcome Dinner included this evening. (D)
Day 2: Windsor
Travel to the San Francisco Bay area with a lunch-time stop at the historic Sonoma Plaza, where the Bear Flag was raised in 1846 to declare California free from Mexican rule. Continue on to the delightful village of Windsor in the heart of the Sonoma Wine Country for three nights. (B)
Day 3: Bodega Bay
Follow the River Road to the Armstrong Redwoods State Preserve for an easy walk among the tall trees. Then, stop at the Korbel Champagne Cellars for a “tasting” as we trace the Russian River to Jenner where the river empties into the Pacific Ocean. Visit the wharf at Bodega Bay where Alfred Hitchcock filmed The Birds, and then take a picturesque country road back to Santa Rosa and Windsor. Look forward to a special Wine Country dinner this evening in nearby Healdsburg.  (B, D)
Day 4: Skunk Train
Parallel the Russian River on the drive to Willets to board the famous Skunk Train. The train will climb the eastern slope of the Coastal Mountain Range and descend into the redwood groves that line the Noyo River Canyon. A barbecue lunch will be included among the awe-inspiring trees before returning by train to Willets. (B, L)
Day 5: Paso Robles
Turning south, travel over the Golden Gate to Monterey for a lunch-time break at the Monterey wharf. Spend the night in Paso Robles at the Black Oak Hotel with dinner at Cool Hand Luke’s. (B, D)
Day 6: Home
Enjoy breakfast before heading home. (B)
