Itinerary

Day 1: Mesa
Begin your holiday by traveling by motorcoach to Mesa, Arizona, located in the “The Valley of the Sun.” Meet new friends at a welcome dinner. Overnight at the Holiday Inn. (D)
Day 2: Las Cruces & Mesilla
Enter New Mexico and the town of Las Cruces, bordered by the rugged Organ Mountains. Before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, the area was a major resting place for men who traveled the famed Royal Road. Dinner is planned at the historic Double Eagle Restaurant on the Old Plaza in Mesilla. It has seen a lot of history since built in the late 1840’s. Overnight at the Hotel Encanto. (B, D)
Day 3: Albuquerque
Travel to Albuquerque to spend two nights at the Hotel Albuquerque. The town was built in the traditional Spanish village. The central plaza area has been preserved and is referred to as "Old Town Albuquerque." Enjoy time on your own to explore Old Town Plaza, before you join a local guide. The driving tour will show you the many luminarias displayed around town. The world takes on a soft yellow glow as the “little lights” outline streets, houses and windows, symbolically showing the way for the Christ child. Dinner is included at a local restaurant.  (B, D)
Day 4: Pueblo Indian Dances
Feliz Navidad! Travel to a local pueblo. When first encountered by the Spanish in the 16th century, the Indians were living in villages that the Spanish called pueblos, meaning "towns". Despite conversions to Catholicism by the Spanish, the Pueblo tribes have been able to maintain much of their traditional lifestyle. Celebrations on Christmas Day feature Indian dances. Tonight celebrate the holiday with dinner. (B, L, D)
Day 5: Gallup & Santa Fe
Head to Santa Fe at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Known as “The City Different,” the city became the terminus of the famed Santa Fe Trail. It is the oldest and highest capital in the United States with narrow streets lined with adobe homes reflecting the blend of New Mexico’s many cultures. Visit the famous Loretto Chapel with its miraculous staircase. Re-board your motorcoach and travel to Gallup, the last stop in New Mexico on Route 66 before entering Arizona. Spend the night at the Hampton Inn. (B)
Day 6: Scottsdale
Travel west into Arizona and make a brief stop at the Visitor Center at the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park. Continue on to Scottsdale. Founded in 1868, the city eventually became a major transportation hub in North America. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Spend the night at the Holiday Inn Express.  (B, D)
Day 7: Home
Head home with happy memories of your Old West Christmas holiday. (B)
