Day 2: Salem
Head back in time to explore the beginnings of our country in Salem, Massachusetts - a town forever linked to the witchcraft hysteria of the 1690s. The city is home to glorious architecture, including authorNathaniel Hawthorne's House of Seven Gables. Enjoy a seafood lunch in Salem and time to explore the quaint wharf shops, before returning to your hotel for dinner. (B, L, D)
Day 3: Historic Boston
Breakfast at your leisure before a historic tour of beautiful Boston. Travel past the stately brownstones of the Back Bay, the winding cobblestones of Beacon Hill, the lush Public Garden, and the golden dome of the state Capitol. Continue on to the Charlestown Navy Yard for a visit to the USS Constitution. Nicknamed "Old Ironsides," it was launched during the Revolutionary War and is the oldest commissioned warship still afloat in the world. Lunch on your own at bustling Quincy Market near historic Faneuil Hall, and return to your hotel to refresh for the evening. Tonight, enjoy dinner at a local concert before continuing on to the Esplanade park on the Charles River, where you will watch a Boston Pops patriotic concert in the iconic hatch shell. (B, D)
Day 4: Happy 4th!
Start the day with a trip through the gates of the famed Harvard Yard in Cambridge. Then, board the Spirit of Boston Harbor Cruise for a delicious lunch on the water. Continue on to JFK Library & Museum to learn the powerful story of the Kennedys, including Jackie, Bobby, and of course JFK himself. Tonight, enjoy dinner at your hotel before watching the fireworks on the banks of the Charles River. (B, L, D)
Day 5: Cape Cod
Breakfast at your hotel, and then it's off to the beach! Motor to Cape Cod, checking out the important sights along the way, and check into your hotel in Hyannis - not far from the famous Kennedy family summer compound. (B, D)
Day 6: Martha's Vineyard
Board a ferry this morning for a short one-hour ride to incredible Martha's Vineyard island. Take a sightseeing tour of the favorite vacation spot of presidents and celebrities, like President Obama, President Clinton, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. You'll have plenty of time to shop, stroll, and sample the local fare. (Don't miss out on the seafood!) Dinner is included tonight. (B, D)
Day 7: Provincetown
Another day of gorgeous seaside sights awaits! Visit windmills, a lighthouse, and more as you travel to the tip of Massachusetts - Provincetown. Take some time to enjoy the wonderful variety of restaurants, shops, and galleries that make this fishing village so unique. Lunch on your own before an exciting Dune Tour. You'll ride through the protected lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore, the most protected coastline in the country. Dinner is included tonight. (B, D)
Day 8: Newport, Rhode Island
A trip to New England wouldn't be complete without a visit to its own Gold Coast! This morning, motor to Rhode Island for a driving tour of "Ten-Mile Ocean Drive," known as the home of the American aristocracy's summer palaces. You'll be amazed by the glory in front of you during a self-guided tour of famous Breakers Mansion, a 70-room estate built by Cornelius Vanderbilt II. Enjoy a steakhouse farewell lunch before returning to Boston for your flight home. (B, D)
