Day 1: To Mexico
Travel by luxury motorcoach through the fertile Coachella Valley past the Salton Sea and on to San Felipe, Baja California. Spend the next two nights where the desert meets the unusual tides of the Sea of Cortez at the Hotel El Cortez. Relax or take a stroll along the beach before dinner this evening. (D)
Day 2: San Felipe
Enjoy breakfast this morning before departing for a tour of San Felipe and the surrounding area. You'll see spectacular homes built by American expats as well as the prized cordon cacti, native to this area. Linger in town for bargain shopping and lunch on your own. A margarita party and another savory dinner are planned at your hotel this evening. (B, D)
Day 3: Ensenada
Travel scenic Highway 3 from San Felipe to the bustling port city of Ensenada. This city has undergone a major facelift, but still retains its seaside charm. Head downtown to shop for bargains, or people watch from one of the shady courtyard restaurants. Around the corner from the main shopping district are the world famous Hussong's Cantina, built in the 1800s, and lively Pappas & Beer. Later, enjoy a tour and tasting at the Santo Tomas Winery, the oldest in Ensenada. Check in to your hotel, The San Nicolas Resort Hotel & Casino for the next two nights. (B)
Day 4: La Bufadora & Mexican Folklorico
After breakfast this morning, depart for Ensenada's most famous attraction, La Bufadora. This unique "blowhole" is actually a marine geyser that, throughout the years, has carved a small cove in the rugged cliffs. The right tide, and amount of water and pressure spray the waters of the Pacific some 60 feet in the air. Return to Ensenada for a performance of the fabulous Mexican Folklorico. Dressed in colorful costumes, the cast will introduce you to several Mexican regions through song and dance. Time to freshen up at your hotel before a gourmet dinner at El Rey Sol, the oldest French restaurant in Ensenada. (B, D)
Day 5: Rosarito
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before the short drive to Rosarito. On the way, you will pass the Baja Fox Studio, where the film Titanic was made. Stop for lunch on your own at sleepy Puerto Nuevo, famous for its lobster. Just outside of Rosarito, you'll having browsing time in the quaint furniture shops. Then, check in to the renowned Rosarito Beach Hotel and relax before tonight's delightful Farewell Dinner at the hotel. (B, D)
Day 6: Home
One last tasty breakfast before departing for Palm Springs!
