Route 66 was once central to American life. In the 1930s, Steinbeck dubbed it “The Mother Road” because it was the route to opportunity for impoverished Dust Bowl families seeking work. Running right down the center of the United States, it passed the important sights, including one everyone wanted to see: The Grand Canyon. One of the most entertaining things about the Route back then were the groupings of six Burma Shave signs and their quips saying things like, “Within this vale of toil and sin your head grows bald but not your chin – use Burma-Shave. “ They definitely broke up the monotony of the trip. The tour includes the glory of the Grand Canyon’s south rim, spectacular Sedona and more.
